    Indonesia Fellow Silverius Oscal Unggul has been recognized as the the 2008 Conde Nast Traveler World Saver for his work promoting a sustainable, community-run alternative to state-owned forest management. Silverius’ village-administered “eco-label” timber enterprise model gives communities a sense of ownership over these valued resources, leading to environmentally and economically sustainable timber harvesting while reducing commercial logging degradation.

  • Ashoka Fellow Hany El Miniawy Wins 2008 Tech Museum Award

    Egypt Fellow Hany El Miniawy has been recognized by The Tech Museum for his use of architecture and planning technology to benefit humanity. In collaboration with local master builders, Miniawy uses his appropriate technologies, combined with local architectural heritage, to teach young people to build safe, inexpensive homes in their own communities.

  • Ashoka Fellow Supatra Nacapew Recognized by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration

    Thailand Fellow Supatra Nacapew has been recognized for her work concerning the rights of people with AIDS. The ‘Center for AIDS rights’, her organization, received the award in recognition of their outstanding work on the protection of women’s rights. The Ministry of Social Develpoment and Human Security awarded the recognition on International Women’s Day this year and Supatra herself was also recognized as an outstanding woman in the field of women’s rights protection by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

  • Ashoka Fellow Sriram Ayer's Organization Wins World Bank's South Asia Development Marketplace

    India Fellow Sriram Ayer's organization NalandaWay was one among the 26 winners of the South Asia Development Marketplace for 2008. The winners were were chosen by an international jury of senior development experts, and they represent leaders in the effort to reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination in South Asia.

  • Ashoka Fellow Chantawipa Apisuk Receives UNDP Red Ribbon Award

    Thailand Fellow Chantawipa Apisuk has been awarded the Red Ribbon Award from the United Nations Development Programme for her work on HIV/AIDS education and prevention for women sex workers. The honor recognizes Chantawipa as a world leader in the effort to curtail the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS.

  • Ashoka Fellow Hany El Miniawy Honored by International Union of Architects

  • Ashoka Fellow Josefina Condori Receives World's Children's Honorary Award
